Three New Florence Favorites: Odette, The Pie Factory, & Yumm

Last week I wrote about three of Downtown Florence’s favorite restaurants that have been serving us for many, many years. Today, I’m focusing on some of the newer eateries that have popped up over the last few years and are sure to stick around! They bring a renewed energy to downtown and a promise towards continued growth and revitalization for the already exciting Shoals area. For now, I want to share with you three more favorite new restaurants that you should try!

From what I've gathered Odette seems to be everyone’s favorite Date Night restaurant in Downtown Florence. If you want to take your sweetheart somewhere upscale and romantic, with delicious distinctive food this is the place to go. The menu hosts healthy, southern cuisine, but with an international flare. You will be surprised by the twists and tastes of each item and it is evident the amount of thought, preparation and passion that goes into every dish. The menu is updated each season to bring new energy to both the drinks and fare, so you’re never left bored. If you want to warm up on a cold winter night, Odette has the best bourbon selection in town and while you’re waiting for your table you can shop around in the front window, which hosts everything from wine-scented candles to unique kitchen decor. Odette is an easy choice if you’re looking for an evening of fine dining in a chic venue.

Upon entering The Pie Factory you might think you accidentally walked into an authentic hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in New York City. Between the intimate, warm lighting, exposed brick and gourmet New York style pizza you’re ready for a night of fun with friends and family. For those who enjoy craft beer they have a wide variety from local breweries and plenty of room inside or outside to enjoy a piece of Funky Chicken pizza and a cold brew. Their pizzas boast fun names that pay tribute to local culture such as Aretha’s Franklin, The Muscle Shoals Sound, and The Court Street Quartet, or you can build your own pizza! Other menu items include calzones, salads, appetizers, and desserts; and everything is delicious! With the warm weather approaching they will be opening their new outdoor patio to enjoy the beautiful Alabama weather.  The atmosphere makes for a fun date night or a casual family outing after a day on the lake.

Finally, Yumm is another relatively new restaurant to Downtown Florence that has done an excellent job at giving sushi and Thai food a breath of fresh air. This is not your average Thai restaurant; get ready for a sunny, fresh experience. Enjoy a light, airy entrance with floor to ceiling windows and beautiful art throughout. While waiting for a table the martini bar is a perfect stop to treat yourself to their fun, refreshing drinks while mingling with friends. The food is just as spirited with a creative approach to each item. The fresh seafood included in the signature items, yummy curries, and unique sushi options create an experience that cannot be matched in the Florence area.

In conclusion, I hope these new restaurants keep on coming! I love seeing this vitality and love for food and entertainment continue to permeate our already rich culture. Now that the warmer months are starting to creep up, it’s time to head to downtown and check out the options. I can’t wait to see Court Street back to being busy with friends and families strolling the sidewalks ready to experience our unique Shoals style and taste!
