306 Barbecue & McCorkle Lofts

The old is being made new again with the revitalization of The McCorkle Building on Court Street in Florence, Alabama. Established in 1948, the historical building is seeing a new era of contemporary living, restaurant innovation, and local shopping in the downtown area—and it will be joining the ranks of the ever-growing popular spots with the addition of 306 Barbecue & Back Alley Sports Bar and McCorkle Lofts. Just a short walk away from the University of North Alabama, students, young professionals, and families alike will enjoy the new additions to 322 N. Court Street.

While the restaurant is currently under construction, 306 Barbecue will be ready for business at the first of the new year and will serve items such as pulled pork, ribs, chicken, homemade sides and fresh vegetables. The eatery originally began in Athens, Alabama with a few guys cooking barbecue for friends and has since grown into a favorite Southern BBQ hangout. When Darren Rhodes, a Florence native and the owner of the new space first decided to help bring 306 Barbecue to the Shoals, he knew that the Court Street location would be the perfect way to share the delicious food and fun atmosphere with Florence residents.

It’s going to be a laid-back venue with open, exposed ceilings, stained concrete floors, and modern finishes. In the back of the restaurant there will be a separate Back Alley Sports Bar, which will have a front entrance, and it’s own separate alley entrance. The bar will feature a small stage for live acoustic sets, a full bar, which will include an abbreviated bar menu, and plenty of televisions to watch your favorite sporting event. It’s the ultimate hangout spot to kick back, relax, and enjoy some quality Southern cooking. The restaurant is set in an ideal location, only a short distance from all of the downtown, historic neighborhoods and parks—and whoever is lucky enough to snag the upstairs apartments will be in the middle of it all.

The apartments above the restaurant are brand-new, sleek,
modern spaces overlooking the downtown area. It’s the perfect opportunity to live in the popular downtown area, with easy access to local businesses, campus, and even the lake! The 12 loft apartments take up the second and third floor of the McCorkle building, with 6 apartments per floor. Each luxury apartment has 2 large bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, granite, stainless steel appliances, a washer and dryer, and beautiful modern finishes including unique lighting. In addition, each apartment is incredibly safe with its own security system, all key access, and security cameras. They are beautiful apartments that won’t last long, so give McCorkle Lofts a call today to reserve your spot.

Once again, another exciting addition to lovely downtown Florence, Alabama makes it clear that this is just the beginning of renovation and growth. Many investors like Darren Rhodes see the beauty and potential of our great town and are diving in head first to help ensure that others see it as well. I’m looking forward to the next development—I’m sure it’s right around the corner.
