Alabama Outdoors
Three years ago Alabama Outdoors moved into the historical Rogers Department Store building in the heart of downtown Florence and the local, Alabama-grown outdoor store plans to make history of its own as an essential staple for Shoals residents. Luckily, Alabama Outdoors has established itself in a place rich with outdoor recreational activities, making it easy to support this community-driven business. Centered just a few minutes from the Tennessee River and Wildwood Park, the specialty outdoor retailer has the perfect location to serve those who love the water, camping, rock climbing and more.
While the
Rogers Building is located on Court Street, the actual Alabama Outdoors entrance
is on Mobile Street and it’s a grand entry with large, modern, spherical
chandeliers and the classic Alabama Outdoors oak tree logo. The colorful window
displays are just a taste of the high quality clothing available inside. The
rugged, earthy space was decorated and designed to pay emphasis to the
multitude of multi-colored t-shirts, sleeping bags, and back packs that hang
from the ceiling and walls. It’s a visually appealing store that brings an
excitement to choosing outdoor gear that is both fun and functional. Their
store is the only outdoor retailer in the Shoals area that sells the popular Patagonia
brand and they have a very wide selection of Chacos; other brands they carry
include North Face, Marmot, Toad and Co., Eno, Yeti, and Colombia—all the essential
brands avid outdoor fans are looking for.
Their
products are both comfortable and high quality, guaranteed to last and satisfy
those who regularly camp or spend time outside in the beautiful Shoals area. They
have a large selection of backpacks, sleeping bags, Eno hammocks, sunglasses,
camping and rock-climbing gear, disc golf Frisbees. They also sell clothes and
shoes that are ideal for serious hiking and camping, and make available Birkenstock
footwear, Hunter rain boots, and Comfort Colors clothing, which are both
functional and fashionable. In addition, aside from their impressive selection
of merchandise, their customer service is exceptional.
Like most Alabama-grown
businesses, the customer service is friendly, helpful, and efficient. You
are immediately greeted by welcoming staff intent on helping you find exactly
what you need. They have extensive personal and professional knowledge of the
products and can recommend the best gear to use depending on your recreational
activity. Alabama Outdoors is also passionate about getting involved in the
ever-growing downtown area. Three years ago they were set up in a house near
campus, but their goal in moving into the larger Rogers Building space was to
not only make it easier to shop, but to be more central, involved, and supportive
of the exciting revitalization of downtown Florence. During First Fridays you
can find their table set up on Mobile Street, just a few feet away from the
musical stage, ready to show you their latest products and answer any of your
questions. Their enthusiasm for serving the Shoals residents and providing the
best products and shopping experience is apparent and refreshing.
